Use this experiment to show how salt water, just like what
you'd find in the ocean, helps things float!
What you will need:
2 clear cups
2 1/2 cups of water
3 tablespoons of Salt
1 hard boiled egg
What you will do:
Pour 1 1/4 cups of water into each cup
Place the egg into each of the cups and watch as it sinks.
Remove the egg and add 3 tablespoons of salt to one of the cups.
Take the egg and place it into the cup of salt water. What happens? (The egg will float because the salt has caused the water to become more dense.)
Let the children take turns moving the egg back and forth between the 2 cups.
